At Surevest we utilize a value-based, long-term wealth accumulation
model. Our portfolios are designed and managed to minimize
risk and enhance return in all market conditions.
In the stock portion of our portfolios we implement proprietary
investment screens utilizing both fundamental and technical
analysis in choosing investments. In the footsteps of many
great investors we also subscribe to the theory quantitative
analysis can be just as useful as qualitative analysis. We
invest in companies with great balance sheets, good growth
prospects, and solid management. Our minimum time horizon
for stock investments is one year. With that said, we are
delighted to hold companies much longer if they continue to
meet our standards. We also do not hesitate to sell stocks
that fail to meet our criteria at any time.
In adding mutual funds to our portfolio we use only the best
of the best fund managers. We are not interested in the “name
brand” of the mutual fund company only the performance
that the manager can deliver. For that reason, some of the
funds we utilize are names not commonly touted by commission
based brokers. Finding managers that take on less risk and
deliver greater return than their benchmark is our mission.
Managing a mutual fund portfolio can be just as challenging
as selecting an individual stock. Like a stock, a mutual fund
left unmanaged can be a detriment to your net worth. Utilizing
modern portfolio theory we continually monitor fund performance
to assure that each fund is staying true to prospectus and
style.
Real Estate Investment Trusts over the years have shown a
great tendency to decrease risk and enhance overall return
in a portfolio. We regularly recommend that a portion of our
client’s portfolio implement a real estate strategy.
We use both private and publicly traded REITS that we feel
have the greatest ability to effectively manage current market
conditions. We prefer to stick to high quality commercial
properties with high rental occupancy and future capital growth.
Alternative Investments such as oil and gas exploration, equipment
leasing, commodities and other non-traditional type investments
also have a place in a portfolio. Depending on our clients
overall risk profile we match our clients goals with the appropriate
amount of alternative exposure in their portfolio.
One common theme of our managed portfolios is diversification
beyond a simple market cap stock allocation. Each client’s
portfolio is designed based on his or her individual goals
and objectives. As a Surevest Private Wealth Management client,
you will benefit from an institutional quality portfolio that
is managed daily to meet your financial needs.
